Glass Laminating Dehumidifier2
Background

Laminated glass is a type of safety glass that holds together when shattered. In the event of breaking, it is held in place by an interlayer, typically of polyvinyl butyral (PVB), between its two or more layers of glass.

PVB is a hygroscopic material which attracts water molecules from the surrounding environment through absorption. The absorption of water molecules in PVB glass interlayers may result in milkiness or blush around the periphery of laminated glass products.

Therefore, moisture content plays a critical role in the production of laminated glass. The right moisture levels ensure that proper adhesion takes place. If moisture content is too high, it creates a lower quality product and waste.

Moisture Level Control of PVB Film

The ideal moisture content of PVB interlayer film is less than 0.55%. Therefore, relative humidity in the glass lamination area should be maintained at 20±3% RH at 20±2°C to ensure that the PVB film does not regain moisture.

Benefits

KAWASIMA Dehumidifier creates low humidity level environment for the manufacturing of glass laminating & storage of PVB film, which improves the quality of the safety glass, making safety glass safer for the consumers.
